About me
My name is Enrico Ronchi and I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Fire Safety Engineering and the Department of Transport and Roads at Lund University (Sweden). Prior joining Lund University, I collaborated with several international research institutions. I worked as a Guest Researcher at the Department of Psychology I at University of Wurzburg (Germany), the Fire Research Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg (USA), and the GIDAI Group at University of Cantabria (Spain). I hold a Ph.D. from the Department of Roads and Transportation at the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy) in "Transportation Engineering, Land Use and Technological Innovation". I have also been visiting researcher at the School of Human Science of Waseda University (Japan) and the Hazelab at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London (UK).
My research specialties include Evacuation Modelling, Fire Safety Engineering, Human Behaviour in Fire, Pedestrian Modelling, Virtual Reality, WUI Emergencies, Road Safety and Tunnel Safety. My main interest is the the study of evacuation scenarios and in particular the development, use and validation of evacuation models.
I am Associate Editor of the journal Fire Technology published by Springer in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Safety Science, edited by Elsevier. I am also member of the editorial board of Fire Safety Journal, edited by Elsevier, and the European magazine of the Society of Fire Protection Engineering (SFPE). I am a peer-reviewer for several International journals in different fields, such as safety, applied mathematics and simulation.
